Desmond Girls star in U15 Munster Inter Pros Victory

The League was well represented last weekend at the AUL Complex for the annual Munster schools Inter Pros U15 girls competition, where girls from Munster, Leinster, Ulster & Connaught were selected to represent their Province at the competition. Munster retained the title defeating Leinster in the final one nil. We had 3 of last season’s Limerick Desmond Gaynor Cup squad compete in the competition for Munster.

Starting in goals for Munster was Sara Mae Murphy who kept a clean sheet in every game she played in, Sara plys her trade with Abbeyfeale Utd and attends Coláiste Íde agus Iosaf in the West Limerick Town. Sara has played in our last two Gaynor Cups at u13 & u14 where we finished 2nd & 4th respectively grade and now plays with our U16 Interleague team.

Eleanor Blake had a fine tournament playing on the left wing, causing problems for her opponents every time she got on the ball, Eleanor has a bright future and will partake in her 3rd Gaynor Cup next June and she is still under the age for the Munster Schools competition again next season. Eleanor plays with Ballingarry AFC U14s & U16s and attends Laurel Hill Secondary School in Limerick City.

Eva Loftus also had a good tournament playing in the attacking midfield position and is also underage again for the competition for next season Eva was a key player for our Gaynor Cup squad last June in the competition in UL. Eva plays with Aisling Annacotty U14 Boys and attends Laurel Hill Coláiste in Limerick City.

All three of the girls have recently attended the U15 National Academy also.
