Limerick Desmond u13 Match Report v Kerry
Limerick Desmond u13s continue Gaynor Cup winning streak.
Our u13 girls team continued their fine form with a comprehensive win last Sunday at Mike Hanley Park, Clounreask. The pitch was immaculate as always and the rain kept away for the most part, as our u13 girls swept away the challenge from Kerry.
Limerick Desmonds saw more of the ball in the first ten minutes with Madison McGuane seeing a lot of ball down her wing, the goal came on 13 mins when captain Kristina Bokmane delivered a left footed cross to which McGuane hooked the ball with her left foot into the top corner of the net. Limerick Desmonds made it 2-0 40 seconds later when Bokmane played Eva Loftus through who saw her shot loop over the Kerry goalkeeper for her 3rd in 2 games after a brace v Cork. Limerick Desmonds were settled now and a lot of the ball was going through the midfield of Jessie Meade and Chloe Wallace. It could have very well been a goal back for the away side but for some excellent individual defending from Desmonds left back Annabel Mulcair Quille. The home side hit a 3rd goal on 20 minutes when Wallace found Loftus who in turn played through Kristina Bokmane hit a left foot shot into the top corner. Half time 3-0 to the home side after a majorly one sided 1st half.
Desmonds hit a 4th goal 4 minutes into the 2nd half when McGuane turned provider for Rebecca Carey, with the halftime substitute striking passed the Kerry goalie from just inside the box. Two minutes later the homeside had another goal this time from the penalty spot, Madison was fouled in the box and she took the penalty herself slotting home into the left hand corner. Ten minutes later the homeside who were now dominating possesion scored the goal of the game, Centre back Emma Meaney carrying the ball from defence to just outside the box, unleashing a ferocious shot from distance giving Kerry’s netminder no chance. Goalkeeper Sara Mae Murphy had little to do but what she did was quiet good, coming and claiming some late through balls in the box from Kerry. Six minutes from time Desmonds scored the last goal of the game, again from the penalty spot with McGuane scoring her 2nd penalty of the match and 3rd goal of the game completing her hattrick.
Mike Hanley Park has seen some great games down through the years and this one was up there with them for sure. Limerick Desmonds now sit joint top with maximum points from two games, they have a bye next and then a trip to South Tipp on the 31st of October.
