U12’s Reach Munster Trophy Final

U12 Munster Trophy semi-final @ Kilmallock FC grounds Sunday 19th Feb v Limerick County

On a brisk clear but windy Sunday afternoon, our Limerick Desmond U12s squad arrived full of anticipation, as the prize on offer for both teams was a Munster Final.

The game started at a high pace with Limerick County playing with the wind, chances were few and far between for both sides. County had opportunities down the left wing but the Limerick Desmond back four were well set up and crosses into the box were cut out at an early stage. Tackles were fair and the referee had little to do in the first half. Half time and it was scoreless.

Our second half started at a very high tempo from Limerick Desmond’s, with the ball being played around exceptionally well from all the boys. Desmonds decided to shake play up and added another striker to the forward line, this paid off as with 15 minutes gone a beautiful flighted ball through from mid field found Eoin Kiely who slotted the ball past the despairing County Goalkeeper .

Our boys defended brilliantly to see the game out with only a few chances in the remaining 15 minutes from County.

Great scenes of celebrations from the Desmond’s squad as full time was blown by the referee, we now look forward to our Munster Final where we will play Waterford on Sunday 5th March in Cahir @2pm.
